The Exchange Hotel had massive amount of support for its fundraising efforts on Friday night, raising funds for Cure MND Foundation. Brooke Keighrey, a local School Teacher is running in Run Melbourne to raise funds and awareness for Cure MND Foundation. “My Nanna Nellie was diagnosed about 8 months ago with MND and as a family we have signed up for Run Melbourne. I have no words for the overwhelming support that I have received. I have had students bring in their pocket money, families dropping off cheques, it’s amazing!” said Ms Keighrey.
Nick Murray, Publican from the Exchange Hotel tapped a keg of Carlton Draught at 5pm and patrons paid what they wanted for their pots of beer and all money has been donated to Cure MND Foundation. “The keg only lasted a little over 2 hours and we raised almost $1800.” Said Mr Murray. “We were in Melbourne at another of our venues, All Nations Hotel in Richmond where they were filming Friday Front Bar and Neale Daniher, former Essendon Player who has MND was the special guest. He was there to promote the Big Freeze that is going to be held at the MCG today. An absolute legend of a bloke and one of the funniest interviews I’ve seen on the show. They are so close to a cure and that has only come about from the amount of funds raised to fund the research.” said Mr Murray.
“They had 40,000 beanies to raise funds for Cure MND Foundation and we drove across Melbourne to buy the last 30 and bring them back to the Exchange to be sold, so we raised another $600 just with the beanies.” Said Nick.
Brooke had car loads of friends and family travel from Ballarat to support her fundraising efforts. “Seriously, I have no words because I will just cry.”
